Composite scoria cone with lava
Impressions:
Suburban roads in Sunbury can be used to access the summit of this clearly volcanic feature. The top is crowded with a primary school, housing and some other large institutional buildings (which were most recently the Sunbury campus of Victoria University). Exposed basaltic rocks are visible on the roadside on the way to the summit, which could have been a parasitic cone or the remnants of the top end of a lava flow. Continuing to the summit, you are rewarded with a significant outcrop and some great views of Redstone Hill to the east south east, and Melbourne to the south.
